Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This is a personal website published by Jack Pieters as an individual. It is intentionally lightweight and collects as little personal data as possible. This policy explains what is collected, why, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who is responsible

The data controller is Jack Pieters (a private individual), Germany. Contact: jack@jackpietersconsulting.com. See also the Impressum.

The newsletter ("The Operator's Read")

If you submit your email address to subscribe, it is used solely to send the newsletter and related occasional updates. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you submit the form. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any email.

The newsletter is operated through Kit (Kit / ConvertKit, LLC), a US-based email service provider that acts as a processor on my behalf. Your email address and engagement data (such as opens and clicks) are stored on Kit's systems. Data may be transferred to and processed in the United States under the appropriate safeguards Kit provides (including Standard Contractual Clauses). See Kit's privacy policy at kit.com/privacy.

Contacting me

If you email me or book a call, I process the information you provide (name, email, message) to respond and, where relevant, to have a conversation about working together. Booking is handled via Cal.com; see cal.com/privacy.

Hosting and server logs

This site is served as static pages by my hosting provider, which may automatically log standard technical data (such as IP address, browser type, and time of access) for security and operation. This processing is based on my legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The site is served by a third-party hosting provider that processes this technical data on my behalf.

Cookies and analytics

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies and does not run third-party analytics by default. The Kit newsletter script and the Cal.com booking link may set functional cookies necessary to operate those features.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, and to object to processing. To exercise any of these, email jack@jackpietersconsulting.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Retention

Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and meet any legal retention obligations.

This is a good-faith, plain-language policy for a low-data personal site. Have it reviewed against your final hosting and tooling setup before relying on it.
